Looking to learn all about weddings and what is included in the Wedding Intensive Floral Design Course? The wedding industry has been at its strongest in the past two years and does not seem to be showing a slowdown. Wedding floral design has many variables and moving parts as each one has to be individualized to fit the theme, the bride, and the overall budget. A large portion of wedding design is sales, customer service, and time management. During each session, we will discuss portions of the business of weddings. The first six classes are to learn the basic types of designs that are asked for time after time, how to procure flowers, identification, and more. If you are pursuing your own wedding business it is highly recommended you take an advanced class after you have some experience or a few weddings on your own so that you can fine-tune your skills and ask questions specific to your target market. In your first six classes you can expect:

ID – Identify flowers, foliage, and fillers that are popular for weddings. Where do they come from, do they last, and what specific tips for wedding use? Local flowers versus wholesalers and imports. We take pictures here so you can see and touch them.
Spiral Hand tie – Most common bridal technique, there is an art to it.
Head Crowns – Flower girl mix that most brides like and last.
Corsage – Wrist corsage using glue technique 2 different ways. You decide what you like for your clients.
Boutonnieres – Wire and tape technique, what holds up, what to avoid, how to hydrate
– how to pin to men’s jackets
Lush and low centerpieces – make an average $75 centerpiece and a $125-150, see the difference and why.
Arch piece – Design a middle arch piece, learn about mechanics, how to install, and all the variations
Mechanics – Foam, no foam, special techniques, how to transport designs and bridal bouquets
Procurement – Processing flowers, water, PH and chemicals, temperatures, storage
Procurement – How to buy flowers, budgets bride versus reality, mock ordering, look at local availability, look at Holland Auction and wholesalers, writing a recipe for table pieces
Pricing – How to price to make a profit, what does the price include, why is labor extra, COGS – what does it cost to produce a wedding, and what’s left over?
Retainer/Deposit/Payment balance – learn the difference and legal verbiage
Wedding Eddiquete on site:
 Hotels versus barn venues, casual versus country club. What we never want to do to possibly get blacklisted, nice things you can do to make a friend or two
Go on an actual wedding delivery
Class sessions – plan for 3 hours and if we run over, that’s okay. I might switch you around based on my schedule and what lesson we are working on. For example, flowers come in Mondays, so procurement should be hands-on, and all flowers are so different.
Amount of sessions – with the above list I can break it into 6, If we have a weekend opening we could do 2 in one day

ID – Flowers that the bride wants, but you might not be sure where to buy, learn seasons, and what really works.

Wedding bouquets – “Free Form” the new bouquet that was born from bad mechanics, but we can make it pretty!

Boho Bride – Mix Dried, bleached, and all that fussy pampas grass in to get gorgeous bouquets! (or you can trade it out for a tropical version)

Floral Columns – Split arches with foliage and flowers

Elevated Centerpieces – Large floral centerpiece on a stand or oversized vase

Rentals – Should you invest, how to price, when to sell and buy new inventory

Consultations – learn a quicker version than an interrogation and ask questions till the bride turns blue.

Quotes and Proposals – Should you, turn around, including your time and labor

Flower Procurement – Order a full wedding floral within budget

Your specific questions and items to work on – some students want to use field flowers and learn to blend with other foliage and flowers, some may be interested in a narrow market, and You may want to spend time on more business questions or procurement.

This class works best in a compact version of 3 to 4 days. Why? Because you have so many larger floral pieces and we need to photograph them! I can get a venue lined up, photographer, and model and we can start your Instagram or gallery page!
