Are you searching for a job in a floral shop or perhaps wishing to start a small side business? You may find yourself realizing that you require more skills than you expected. Your resume and application may be overflowing with qualifications and experience; however, shop owners often glimpse at applications for a mere five seconds before focusing on other aspects such as your phone voice, how you see color, if you can arrange the basics in a short period of time, and your knowledge of plants and flowers. It may seem overwhelming at first, but that is why we are here for you. In three sessions we will provide you with scenarios and tools for your success not only in an interview but also for life in a shop.

Objectives: (We can work on these or a selection of your choice of focus)

Flower identification

How to price arrangements and make recipes

Mechanics and techniques  (layering, basing, mirroring and much more)

Vases (large and tall, slimline, cylinders and cubes)

Foam arrangements – radial, garden, and contemporary

Wrist corsage – learn how to make your own jewelry and glue flowers

Boutonnieres – learn traditional and jewelry types

Spiral hand tie – for consumer and bridal

Garden hand tie – making a base of premium greens and adding flowers

Table centrepieces – long and low

Dressing-up plants – selling orchids, succulents and foliage plants

Airbrushing hydrangeas and dip dying products

Particulars, processing, and handling of sensitive flowers

Tools – using a knife, clippers, and respect for tools

You will also be privileged to the shop’s current project being worked on, Lisa’s magazine pieces, and Lisa’s competition work.
