Creating Mother’s Day memories with Flowers

This Mother’s day after you send flowers, join your Mother in a walk down memory lane and cultivate new memories. Mother’s Day can be a time for reflection, gifting flowers, or creating new memories. I wanted to do something really funny with old photos but soon realized how young I was when I developed my ultra independence and the need to fix everything myself. If you take a look at all the baby photos I’m assisting in building a home before I even get to preschool! The things parents do and how it forms the people we are today. Hey, Lisa hold onto the saw for a minute while I fetch another tool. Great idea Dad! LOL While Mom takes a photo for the world to see how crazy of an idea that was. Grew up with parents who built from the ground up and put a house together literally around us while we camped out in the basement until the rooms were finished. Throughout my childhood doing everything with my parents laid all the building blocks to becoming a young adult quickly. I was a latch-key-kid, meaning I came home on the school bus and went inside the house alone or with my brother and started all the chores as Mom had a list on the table for me. It would be simple stuff like pickup downstairs, vacuum the stairs, and start tacos for dinner. It seemed like a normal thing back then, however, watching kids today at the same age seems like a completely different world. Mom and Dad both worked and you just assisted in making life a bit easier.

Looking at the photos makes me think of how simple life could be sitting on a lawn chair with a scary-looking teddy and just waiting till all the work was done for the day trying not to cause a fuss. All the things I did to prepare me for adulthood and traveling the world to be blessed to be let into so many homes to see how each culture lives and celebrates Mother’s Day. My endless thirst for knowledge, culture, and what really makes a certain percentage of people happy. Becoming a florist has allowed me to see life from everyone’s view, whether it’s through a new Mom having a Baby, a celebration of a wedding, Just because or as we celebrate Mother’s Day this coming weekend on May 8th. It’s always a difficult one for me because I work so hard at the flower shop making all the moms and Grandmas these gorgeous vases of flowers or sending out plants and then my Mom is left to last. Last year I put a small vase of flowers I liked away and came in early on Mother’s Day, cleaned the flower shop, and then puttered around trying to think of what Mom would truly like and enjoy for her gift. After an idea sprung to mind the design has started and completed. It’s not the easiest task when your Mom is a bit spoiled with crazy designs, exotic flowers, and nothing ordinary.
